How can I block Reels, Stories, Spotlight and Shorts?

From version 7.5.0, you can block specific content types in popular social media apps — including Instagram Reels and Stories; Snapchat Spotlight and Stories and YouTube Shorts.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open AppBlock.
  2. Create a New Schedule or open an existing one.
  3. Tap on “Blocklists” and create a new blocklist (or edit an existing one).
  4. Under “Apps”, find and select the apps you want to block (e.g., InstagramSnapchat, or YouTube).
  5. You’ll see the option to block specific features like:
    • Instagram Reels
    • Snapchat Spotlight & Stories**
    • YouTube Shorts
  6. Tap “Save” and activate the blocklist.

That’s it! These content sections will now be blocked during your selected times.

**Known limitation for Snapchat Stories:

If a story is posted on Snapchat, it can still be viewed by tapping the highlighted circle next to the “Stories” tab or by selecting a friend’s circle in the chat. This is intentional, as blocking these entry points would also block private snaps and direct stories from friends, which could disrupt normal communication on Snapchat.
