Can I duplicate an Existing Schedule?

Yes, you can do so through the menu on the top right corner in the schedule detail screen. Simply head to your desired Schedule, press on the 3 dots and select “Duplicate”.

Can I lock the Schedule?

Of course you can! You have two locking options:

1) until a specific time (Time Lock)2) until connecting a charger. (Charger Lock)

To set up, go into the schedule details screen, press the lock icon on the top right corner and select your preferred locking option (Time Lock / Charger Lock). Please note that once you lock your schedules, you will not be able to do any changes.

How to block Newly Installed Apps

Do you find yourself downloading new applications to circumvent your blocking? This may be the solution:

Create a Schedule or QuickBlock as usual.

In the step where you select the applications and website you want to block, select Add newly installed apps.

Read the information in the pop-up and press ADD.

Save.

Note: It can take a short time until AppBlock gets notified that a new application has been installed.

Can AppBlock block notifications?

Absolutely! On all devices running iOS 16 and above, when you use QuickBlock or set up a Schedule to block a specific app, it not only blocks the app itself but also blocks any notifications from that app. This ensures that you're fully protected from distractions, as you won't receive any alerts or notifications from the blocked app while it's being restricted.

Can I combine blocking conditions?

Yes, you can combine blocking conditions to customize how and when apps are blocked. Currently, we offer three types of blocking conditions, with two of them allowing for preset combinations:

Time

You can block apps based on a set time duration. Additionally, you can combine this with a location condition to block apps during specific times in a chosen area.

Location

The location condition lets you block apps in a specific area (or when outside it) and on selected days and times. When combined with the time condition, both conditions must be met for the apps to be blocked.

Usage Limit

You can select specific days and set a total time limit for how long you can access certain apps. However, due to system limitations on iOS devices, it's currently not possible to set usage limits by specific hours.

This flexibility allows you to tailor your app-blocking schedule to fit your needs, whether based on time, location, or usage.

The app I deleted remains on the blocking list

iOS manages this component directly, so we can't guarantee that it will always work perfectly. If you notice that a deleted app remains on the blocking list, you can try refreshing your blocking settings within the AppBlock app. Here's how:

For AppBlock version 3.7.0 and older:

Open AppBlock: Launch the AppBlock application on your device.

Navigate to the Blocking Tab: Tap on the “Blocking” tab within the app interface.

Pull to Refresh: Swipe down on the screen to initiate the refresh process.

Notification: Once completed, a notification stating “Blocking refreshed” will appear at the bottom of your screen.

For AppBlock version 3.8.0 and newer:

Open AppBlock: Launch the AppBlock application on your device.

Navigate to the Blocking Tab: Tap on the “Blocking” tab within the app interface.

Tap the Refresh Icon: Tap the icon in the top right corner to refresh the blockings.

If refreshing the blockings doesn't resolve the issue, please contact our support team for further assistance.

Can I pause my schedule?

Accepted Answer

Yes! As long as Strict Mode is not active, you are able to pause your active schedules for a selected amount of time. You can also choose to disable the schedule for unspecific time.

In case you want to disable this feature and no longer want to have this feature available in Schedules, please go to AppBlock > More > Settings and turn off the “Enable schedule pause” feature.

Please bear in mind that you cannot pause schedules that are locked.

Can I block selected apps based on my location?

You can easily set up app blocking based on your location, whether it's at a specific place or when you're outside a designated area (Inverse radius). To do this, create a new schedule with the apps you want to block and select "Location" as the blocking condition.

Make sure that location access is set to "Always" for the feature to function correctly. Next, choose the radius where the schedule will be active, then proceed to set the schedule's time. Once you're done, tap "Create" in the top right corner to save your schedule.

How can I block websites with usage limit condition?

Accepted Answer

Blocking websites with usage limits is technically possible only in the Safari browser. You can do this in a similar way to blocking apps:

Go to Schedules > Blocklist > Save.

Select Usage limits and set the daily usage limit for the chosen websites.

Under Apps and Safari websites, open the Other category to see a list of recently viewed websites in Safari.

If the website you want to block isn't listed, visit the site in Safari, then return to AppBlock. The website should now appear in the Other category.

Please note that usage limits will only apply when you access these websites via the Safari browser, as iOS cannot track website usage in other browsers.

Unable to turn on Safari extension for keyword blocking

Accepted Answer

Before activating the AppBlock Safari extension for keyword blocking, it’s essential to deactivate all currently active website blocks. If you are a Premium user, you can use the “Pause” feature to temporarily disable active website blocking.

Once you’ve successfully unblocked the websites, you can proceed to enable the Safari extension in your device settings and set up keyword blocking. This ensures that your selected keywords are accurately detected and that the associated apps or content are appropriately restricted.

How do I prevent myself from stopping the Schedules whenever I want?

If you find it too easy to pause your Schedules and want to avoid temptation, we have the perfect solution for you—Strict Mode! 😊

Strict Mode locks your Schedules and QuickBlock settings, making them unchangeable. Here’s how you can enable it:

Choose an access method: Select the method that best suits your needs for locking your settings.

Activate Strict Mode: Go to the Strict Mode tab in the app.

My website/keyword blocking is not working after recent update

Accepted Answer

We’re aware that after updating to version 7.1.1 or 7.1.2, some websites and keywords may not be blocked as expected. We’re working on a fix that will be included in version 7.1.3, which we’ll release as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you remove the “Block Recent Apps” condition in Strict Mode, website blocking should work again. Once the update is available, please be sure to update AppBlock to fully resolve the issue.

My location schedules do not work

If location schedules are not working, please try the following steps:

Check Location Permissions: Ensure that location permissions are granted for AppBlock.

Toggle Location Services: Try turning location services off and on again in your device settings.

Recreate the Location Schedule: Delete the existing location schedule and create a new one.

Extend the Radius: Increase the radius for the location schedule to improve accuracy.

Refresh the Blocking: Refresh the blocking settings as mentioned in the article to ensure everything is up to date.

If your schedules aren't starting when they should, first check your schedule settings and the times of the blockings to ensure everything is set correctly. If everything looks good, try refreshing your blocking settings within the AppBlock app. Here’s how:
